IMPROVED ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION... with CO2 probe technology The patented CO2 probe technology was developed in collaboration with Heliotherm’s expert partner,M-TEC Mittermayr from Arnreit in Upper Austria. CO2 probe technology enables heat pumps to attain maximum efficiency and is extremely environmentally friendly. Heat pumps with a CO2 ground probe can be used in water protection and conservation areas as well. How the CO2 ground probe worksFree solar energy is stored in the ground. This energy causes the carbon dioxide contained in the CO2 probe to boil. The carbon dioxide then rises in a gaseous state. The heat exchanger unit is located at the top end of the CO2 probe. Inside the heat exchangers, the ground heat is transferred from the CO2 to the refrigerant in the heat pump cycle. This heat output renders the CO2 liquid again, and it flows back down independently. The cycle then starts over again. Benefits - Environmentally friendly – CO2 is a natural carrier medium - Self-circulating – no circulating pump required in the probe cycle - Efficient – extremely high level of efficiency - Safe to run – no brine, no circulating pump - Wear-free – no moving parts in the probe cycle - Service-free – no maintenance required in the probe cycle A: The liquid absorbs heat in the evaporator area. B: The liquid begins to boil and vapour rises. C: The heat is transferred to the surrounding area at the top edge of the cylinder, the vapour condenses and becomes liquid again. D: Gravity brings the liquid back to the bottom end of the pipe. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
